An Old Favorite

Good February! It's still winter but I got over having winter in SL right after my last post and moved back down to the ground. I wasn't sure what house to move on to decorating so I pulled out an old favorite by L2 Studios- the Alameda House. It's a lovely concrete villa that I remember decorating a few years ago and thought I'd try again. I found out that I needed more prims if I was going to do more than decorate the inside after I put way too many LI into a pretty patio with a surrounding wall that was very French Chateau-looking. Ah, Ce La Vie. I still had fun with some of the inside areas

I think my favorite area to decorate was the bathroom and bedroom this time. Lots of feminine touches and girly pink.

.  Then a kitchen with lots of old-fashioned kitchen items- the Nutmeg gacha got a ton of my L$ before they got rid of them! The living room and entry room both with classic decor to match the house. Lots of Apple Fall, Fancy Decor, Trompe Loeil furniture with a few other stores mixed in. Those are my go-to stores I admit.

Well, this blog story isn't very exciting this time. I was feeling a bit of the winter blah and am still feeling it somewhat. I've moved on to a new SL house though... here's a sneak peek!

Winter Days

Hey everyone! Welcome to this episode of What I've Been Doing (or not doing) This Winter!

December was a busy time in RL so I didn't have near enough time to do a Holiday Blog. I did manage to set up a winter skybox and do a quick Holiday/Winter photoset with Scarlet Creative's Juniper Barn. I didn't manage to do the whole house, but I did find a few holiday items I had to photograph.

After the holidays I started working on the minimalist house put out by Kraftwork, Atelier Burgundy, & Pitaya - Nordic Cottage. I usually am not a fan of the tiny little houses with open floorplans. I like having separate rooms and a bathroom. Lucky for me, they sold a nice little set so you could build a bathroom and a kitchen in the side nook of the building if you so chose. I chose yes because it was easier than trying to fit another kitchen in there- I did try, believe me! It took me over 3 weeks to decorate this little house because Covid hit me in RL. I wasn't too sick but the exhaustion was real!

Add-on Kitchen & Bathroom area. I also put a little laundry area by the front door.

Add on bathroom with odds & ends of decor added.

Anyway, I did finally get all the little fiddly bits of decor in place. The furniture was fairly easy once I found a couch I liked.

I even found my SL dogs that are like my RL dogs! Cece is the Frenchie and the creator did an awesome job on the animations! The little chihuahua is as close as I could get to our min-pin mix Trixie in RL.

Now, I'm going to go drink a glass of wine and do some laundry in RL as well as SL. I hope you're having a good winter! Mine is looking up, that's for sure!

Autumn Came & Went While I Was Busy

Wow, it's almost December. It's been a busy five months since the last time I blogged. I didn't post all the homes I've tried decorating since then because I lacked time or inspiration. It didn't help that I was out of the country for most of September. So, anyway, enough of me giving excuses let's get to blogging.

But first here's what I left for my neighbors to see in September after I took the beach down. I knew I didn't have time to decorate an entire house, so I thought I'd have some fun with a quick campground. I used my saved shoreline decor and trees so that made it even easier.

Camp Raynee: The campers are from Kraftwork, Floorplan, and Hive. The truck is from [Con.] and the roads are HPMD.

This house is another Scarlett Creative; she's been having some great sales as part of the Saturday Sale promotion. This is the Westland Cottage. It's a cute little one-room cabin with a loft and a built-in bed. I switched out the parcel decor to all autumn colors and put in a creek. The outdoor stuff is a mix of trees from Skye, Fundati, and Little Branch. I have shrubbery from HPMD and the creekbed is from Organica. The grasses are from KIDD mostly and the bridge is from Sway.

Since it's a single room you might think it's easier to decorate, but you really have to work to figure out how to fit everything in the space available. The built-in bed helped quite a bit.

I think I managed to make it a cozy place that I'd like to live in RL. I like the rustic look the house has and a lot of the furniture I tend to buy really works with this style. As usual, most of my furniture is from Apple Fall & Nutmeg, with the decor stuff from all sorts of places.

Last, there were two little loft areas to decorate. I didn't really do much with the smaller one, but the other one made a great place to hang out and watch movies or play games.

So, that's my autumn post. I hope you enjoyed my photos. I think I'll probably be heading up to a sky platform for a winter post, as the sim I live on doesn't do winter and I'm not sure I want to mess with trying to overcome the green all around my parcel for photos. We'll see.

Vintage Fair Boho

I am not usually a big clothing shopper in SecondLife. I adore houses and home decor and I certainly like some pretty landscaping items, but clothing is hit or miss for me.

I bucked that trend this week when I went to the Vintage Fair 2021. I really only went to look at some cute retro tables I saw on a notecard. Then I started looking around and the next thing I knew I'd bought several cute dresses and some boots. So of course I had to go find some backdrops to show my new retro duds. Except for the first one I'm wearing; that was on my parcel where a cute summer sundress works.

Next up was a very go-go girl cute texture change dress that just cried out to go clubbing in. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anyone at the club when I went. I did find this appropriate sign in a window though.

I got hungry with all that walking around and waiting for the tram so I went and found some yummy dumplings at some all-night diner.

Next up was a less go-go and more boho outfit. It had matching boots for sale... how could I resist?

Then a quick dress change, but I kept the boots!

So, I had a bit of fun and got some new clothes, not a bad day in SL.

Bring on the Beach!

I am so ready for summer! I love spring, but summer is my second favorite season. Though If I lived near a beach in RL I might have to switch them around. I also love lazing around in the pool.

My latest decorating project is yet another Scarlet Creative home. Yeah, yeah, I know. But they keep on having something up for the Saturday Sale, so here we are again. This time it's the Mayakoba Resort; a nice stilt house with a pool and deck.

I picked up all my spring garden decor and water decor and pulled out the beach decor. I found some cute things to get me in the summer mood.

Here are a few interior shots. The house has a very open feel that is perfect for a beach house.

I had enough space that the bathroom could include a nice little spa area. I could use a massage after a hard day of laying around the pool.

Well, I'm off to dream of the beach. I hope you like this month's blog!

Springtime might really be here, at last!

Hello! Happy Spring! It really does feel like spring finally. Well, mostly. We aren't counting that little tiny bit of snow last week.

So, this is my latest SL house. Another Scarlet Creative house, as they've been having quite a few houses on the Saturday Sale, and you know I can't resist a sale!  This is the Scarlet Creative Great Elm cottage. I kept most of the water decor from my last house but added a dock and a rowboat.

This is a charming rustic little cottage. And conveniently Nutmeg had a 50% off sale when I started decorating, so I picked up some new stuff. I really like the look of their textures; they're so cozy and combine really nicely with a couple of my other favorite stores, like Apple Fall for one. Here's the Nutmeg Warm Earth Dining set mixed with the Apple Fall Honey set. I tinted the loveseat and the curtains and the bench from Tarte to match the Nutmeg set.

The bedroom is yet more Nutmeg and Apple Fall, including the little reading nook.

The last room is the living room. I didn't do a kitchen this time because I just wasn't feeling it anymore. I did like how the living room turned out; it's nice, bright, and cheerful.

Anyway, I hope you like this house blog as much as I enjoyed decorating it.

Springtime Creativity!

It finally officially Spring! Yay! I have decorated a lovely house, so pretty that I want to spend time there in RL if I could.

Scarlet Creative has been participating in the Saturday Sale and I've picked up a couple of her homes in the last month. I have two of her builds on my parcel right now.

First is the Stargazer Gazebo, which was a suggestion of a group member on Scarlet Creative's Facebook page. I think we must follow similar pages because I saw the exact same RL gazebo on the same day that it was suggested as an inspiration! I went with a vaguely creepy, abandoned, and overgrown garden look for my idea. I even found some dirt (actually sand) prims to put on the floor from Half-Deer, and also some cobwebs on prims to give it even more atmosphere, even if you can't see them in my photos. I saw several posts with pretty ideas so I wanted to be different. Here it is in sunlight and in melancholy fogginess.

The next thing I picked up from SC was this cute little Charlotte Corner House Boat. This is smaller than my usual house but it is very cute. I am having fun with the water around it. I like water plants and flowers and this gave me an excuse to dig them out of my inventory.

There are really only two spaces inside, plus a wrap-around porch area. I did put a wall up on the left side of the kitchen to divide it from the bedroom area a bit more. Actually, it's not a wall but the back of the Bellosguarda Library shelves from Kraftwork.

There's also a ladder to the roof so you can make a little gathering area up there as well. It's a great place to sit and watch the sunset, or just drink some lemonade on a sunny day.

I already said that I like to put bathrooms in my houses, but this one obviously didn't have a convenient place for a full bathroom but I did make a relaxing area for a bath anyway. I live in a pretty quiet area and rarely have visitors, so why not?

So, I have a lovely little springtime area now. I'll probably pick it all up and try another house soon (as I was typing this Onsu sent me a notecard about their latest release!), but this one is tempting me to keep it for a few more weeks. Who knows, I might just keep it. If only I had unlimited prims, wouldn't that be lovely?
