Country Comfy Elegance.

Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone who celebrates US Thanksgiving had a nice holiday. Mine was pretty nice.

I found a new house by one of my favorite home creators- L2 Studio. It's called the Spicewood Farmhouse. This store always has homes that feel very comfortable, like going to visit your grandma's house; older with soft colors and high ceilings. There is a living area, a central area where I put a kitchen and small dining area, and a lovely open room that could be anything you want.  It has one bedroom area upstairs with a balcony and one room that is probably meant to be a bathroom upstairs with a tile floor that has 4 textures to choose from. I always love a house with a bathroom! The front patio area and the wooden sidewalks are add-ons that come with the house, so you can create your own outdoor spaces.

I started with the entryway. I wanted something with a nice warm feel. I think I managed it. The console and plates are from Nutmeg, and the curtains, painting and chandelier are from Kraftwork. The rug is from a Dreamlands Design set and the knickknacks are Apple Fall, Vespertine, and Tuesday. The background items in the other room are also mostly the same stores, with a painting set from Fancy Decor way in the back over the bookcase.

The kitchen is another Black Friday shopping purchase. I spent so many $L that weekend! It's the Wickman Farmhouse Kitchen from Muniick. It is texture change if you buy the fatpack, which I splurged on for the sale. I had fun searching through my inventory finding all my pitchers and boxes to display along the top shelf. I mean, I can't reach it in RL either so I might as well use it to display cute things, right? I always like a window over the sink but this house didn't have one, so I hit up the marketplace and found one to hang. It's fake but it does the job!

The dining area is just the space at the end of the kitchen where the front window sits. There is enough space to put a small table for two. Plus, you can't beat the view! If you wanted to you could use the big sunroom right next to the kitchen for a dining area, but I wanted a cozy, yet light open space.

I think most of the items in the dining area are from Apple Fall and Nutmeg. The curtains are from Kraftwork and are also texture change with a nice selection of colors. I used the same ones in the living room.

I feel like most of the stuff I used is from the same stores, but they have the soft, faded textures that work in an old farmhouse. So, my living room is furnished with stuff from Nutmeg, Apple Fall, DaD, Kraftwork, and a fireplace from Fancy Decor.

I didn't do the upstairs because I suddenly got the urge to do some holiday decorating. And since I live on a green sim that means I have to either lay down an entire base of snow on my land or pull out my winter surround. I'll figure it out once I decide which house I'm using and how many prims it is. Onward! I hope you enjoyed my house.

Asian Style

The latest house I landscaped and decorated is from {YD}. It's the {YD} Japanese House - White. While there are a few minor texture issues (the seam line on the front of the house being the main one), I still thought it was a cute house.

I'm not feeling super wordy right now so I'm leaning toward just giving you photos and letting you enjoy them without all the words. At least I hope you enjoy it.

My favorite things about this little house were the front porch and the little balcony. I love being able to sit outside and enjoy a cup of something and enjoy the peace.

Now I think I'll see about setting up something for the holiday season or maybe I'll get a cute house in before diving into my usual winter skybox, who knows? I hope you like my house.

Small meets MCM.

Good day! It's a beautiful cool day here in RL after months of blazingly hot summer and I'm totally enjoying having the windows open. It won't last, of course, I checked the forecast but still, it's nice while it's here. Now, on to the latest of my SL houses!

During one of the rounds of The Saturday Sale, I picked up a small house from {YD} called Petit Home. It seemed vaguely MCM to me and that's mostly how I went with decor. I added a small outside Asian-inspired back garden surrounded by the Perla Wall set from [Fourth Wall].

The house is small, with an open-plan main room and 3 small other rooms. I chose to make them the bedroom, office, and bathroom of course. I am predictable sometimes, yes.

In the distance, you can see my neighbor also put up what appears to be an Asian-themed house as well. This is getting to be amusing. I wonder if they'll follow me when I put up my next house?

I put a lot of yellow accents in the main area because it makes such a bright contrast to the black & white that I seem to end up decorating my homes within SL. It also seems like you can find a lot of MCM/retro stuff in bright yellow gold. I know my kitchen cabinets are not quite MCM but I already had them fitted in place before I found the rest of the theme and didn't feel like changing them out. I did tint the counters and such to match the black theme. I also added all the wood floors, as I wasn't finding the original tile easy to work with. The floor pieces are Rekja Wood Floors from [Fourth Wall]. I wasn't able to match the curve of the big window so it's hidden under the round rug I modded to fit. Plus, plants and such hide odd corners that don't match up.

My office was my usual cozy feminine area with some warmer pink tones added. I always love having a comfy place where I can curl up with a cup of coffee and a good book. In the bedroom, I went more with brown, black, and tan. I found a nice big rug to cover the tile and a cool Murphy's bed from Kraftwork.

The bathroom/laundry room is the only place I left the tile floor showing, as it was easy enough to decorate with and more appropriate for the area. The furniture is the Kraftwork Eugene Bathroom set, Kraftwork Wash/Dryer from the Mini Laundry Unit, and various other set pieces from my inventory.

Did you know that SL has these 360 photos now or am I way behind as usual? Or is it a Firestorm viewer thing? I don't know. I just saw it and was like "oh cool, let's try this." So, here is one last photo. Have a great weekend! See you next house.

Midsummer Post

Hello! It's me again. It's ridiculously hot here in RL and it's making my brain not want to put words together, so I might be less chatty in this post. We'll see.

My latest house is another Scarlet Creative; the Xander Skybox- Groud version. It's a cute little house with lots of windows and a nice patio with flower boxes. I did add some inside walls since, as it comes, it's basically 2 open rooms.  And on to pictures!

Inside, I used some wall panels from Atelier Burgundy and a kitchen island from the Fancy Decor & Kraftwork collaboration kitchen set to separate the kitchen from the living room area, plus I made a little coffee nook for relaxing in. I tinted it to match the other kitchen which is from the {YD} Mclane kitchen set. I used the gacha set Kitchen Rails from Kraftwork, plus random other bits from other sets to finish out the kitchen area. I also used the bathroom walls and set from the AB KW Pitaya Nordic cabin set; if you've got a big enough corner in a house it can be quite useful to create a small bathroom space.

On the other side of the house is a room divided off by windowed walls. I put up some blinds in the windows for privacy.  It's a nice place for a bedroom and the front section makes a great desk area with a lovely view out the windows. I really like the bed I found from FAYDED, it's a Murphy's bed. It comes with the decor on the shelves but you can switch it out for your own things if you like. I switched out the pictures for some of my own photos.

Anyway, I hope you like this house I'm showing you. I enjoy decorating them and it's nice to share. As always, you can ask me about anything you see in the pictures and I might be able to tell you where I got it (I can't promise, but I'll try!) I'll list a few of the stores that I know things are from below. Hope you're staying cool in this summer we're having (unless you're south of the equator of course!)

From the beach to the desert!

Hey there!

It's time for a new post! Last time I had the lovely beach cliff with palm trees and a beautiful beach house. Well, I worked so hard on those beach cliffs that I decided to repurpose them into a nice desert cliff look. I still have the ocean down below because that's how my parcel is but I think it works as a nice desert anyway.  Fundati happened to have their desert pack on one of the weekend sales so I picked up some nice plants and trees. I also shopped around finding other cacti I liked. The rocks and such I already had out for the beach are from Fundati as well.

I found this cute little house by La Petite Vie when I was wandering one of the monthly event sales and saw something else they had there. I picked up the LM and went to the store to see what else they had and this was it. Actually, this is not one house but two of them that I just put together to get the look I wanted. I am not talented enough to mod them with new doors in between so you have to go outside to get to the other rooms, but in SL no one cares about the weather so it's no big deal. Both houses come with a hud to change the outer wall color and a hud for the shutters.

The kitchen is actually supposed to be a garage area I believe. It has the double doors and the walls change to match the outer house color when you use the hud. I don't usually use a car in SL and the ones I do have are parked in my inventory when I'm not using them so that space is now a kitchen/dining area. Besides, in this heat having some double doors to open in the kitchen is a good idea! Most of my decor is from my inventory, but I never pass up a chance to go shopping for more home items. The stove nook is from Zinnias and you can buy parts of it or the whole thing in a fat-pack. The store has a nice selection of bright-colored home decor, mostly with a Central American feel.

The living room is again mostly a mix of stuff in my inventory with the addition of some small knick-knacks and plants from shopping- the bright wall plates were from Zinnias.

I, as usual, got distracted and bored before I finished the inside of the house but I did have some nice outdoor shots.

I was a bit tired and decided to take a late evening nap in the hanging hammock from Kraftwork. All this decorating is tiring!

The desert is pretty hot and dry so a little water feature is a must. The Tranquility Water Garden Tub from Kopfkino was on sale a few weeks back and was a perfect fit.

I may have gotten bored with the inside rooms, but the balcony is a great space to relax and so I put in the effort to finish it at the end. This photo is a tribute to my friend Gidge, who is rarely seen without food or a fun drink in hand in SL. I figure a margarita is fun enough and fits my theme, right? I also picked up this cute swimsuit and sarong this weekend from [QE] on one of the sales. It's color change and is very customizable, down to the beads and the fringes.

Anyway, I'm off to clean up my parcel and move on to the next house! I might skip the sandy theme this time. I'm tired of it a little. I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating — and it gets everywhere." ;)

Summer is just around the corner!

Hello! I don't know about you but I am ready for summer. We've been switching from warm sunny days to snow about every other week here in RL. I'm kinda done with that.

In SL though, it can be any season you want. And right now I want some summer! I dug into my inventory and found some beach cliffs! Well, there we go, that's a start. Usually, I have a fairly flat parcel that I might do a little landscaping with rocks and creek beds on but I've never done cliffs. Here's how my messing around with cliffs went:

I added a little wooden walkway and seating area to one of the levels and some rope fencing- I don't want to walk off the edge! I am using the Trompe Loeil Kjirsten Cottage. It looks great in a tropical setting with that wooden roof and shingle siding. The patio area is nice because you can texture change it from terracotta to sand to tiles. I thought the terracotta was a nice contrast.

Inside I went with a casual look with some definite MCM touches and colors.

Does anyone want some fondue? Fancy Decor always has the nices MCM and retro stuff.

The house had 3 rooms to use for bedrooms or whatever, so I made 2 bedrooms and a bathroom because you know I love to put a bathroom in my SL house.

When I logged in a week or two ago I noticed my neighbor had left and the parcel was for rent. Well, I have a new neighbor who might be a little competitive - they put up beach cliffs one level higher than mine. LOL Ah well, I don't mind. I'm just going to sit here under the palm trees and watch the water.  And contemplate tearing this all down and putting up a different house. I already have one in mind. ;)
